fnatic dropped an 11-8 lead against Wildcard

The first round of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Opening Stage has ended with paiN taking down Imperial in an all-Brazilian clash.

The two teams met on Dust2, where Imperial came out second-best despite taking an early 4-1 lead. paiN turned the momentum of the game on its head with a force buy in the sixth round and never looked back, winning twelve out of thirteen rounds to secure a comfortable 13-5 victory.

Earlier in the day, Wildcard took down fnatic on Mirage after coming back from 8-11 down with the help of Josh “JBa” Barutt’s resurgence. The youngster went from a 3-10 K-D to 19-11 in the closing stages to help his team eke out a 13-11 victory and a spot in the 1-0 pool.

Other results include BIG taking down Passion UA after a dominant 9-3 CT side on Mirage, while The MongolZ made light work of Rare Atom in a 13-2 drubbing on Anubis.

The results mean we are in for several mouth-watering clashes in the second round. FURIA will meet Imperial in the 0-1 pool, as will fnatic and Cloud9.

In the 1-0 pool, Liquid will meet Wildcard, while a surprising clash between BIG and FlyQuest will award a spot in the 2-0 bracket.

The full round two schedule is as follows:
