Vitality edge past FURIA in OT; Liquid fend off GamerLegion

Late multi-kill rounds by ZywOo got Vitality past FURIA.

Vitality are in the 2-0 pool and GamerLegion in the 0-2 pool after the first matches of the second round of play at the Shanghai Major’s Elimination Stage. FURIA and Liquid sit in the 1-1 pool and will play another best-of-one in the next round.

Vitality were put under pressure by FURIA early on in their bout on Mirage, as the Brazilians won eight attacking rounds in the first half.

Mathieu “⁠ZywOo⁠” Herbaut came online on the attack, though, and got Vitality to overtime, after which the European squad took control and won four out of five to go to the 2-0 pool.

Liquid were first out of the gate on Inferno in their match against GamerLegion, but couldn’t quite run away as the Erik “⁠ztr⁠” Gustafsson-led squad went up 6-4 before a clutch by Roland “⁠ultimate⁠” Tomkowiak evened things out at the half.

Russel “⁠Twistzz⁠” Van Dulken then led his team to victory, with Mareks “⁠YEKINDAR⁠” Gaļinskis shining in the opening frag department, tallying nine first kills to his name in the match.
