FaZe brought the series back and swept it after losing their map pick.
FaZe are through to the Perfect World Shanghai Major semi-finals, where they will face G2, after stunning Vitality in the quarter-finals.
Vitality, who came into the series as favorites, could not have wished for a better start on Nuke, FaZe’s map pick, as they dominated on the CT side to an 8-0 lead.
Despite the early thrashing, Robin “ropz” Kool was already starting to show that he was in fine form in the series despite his team getting thrashed, and was a big part in FaZe winning the final four rounds of the half.
Vitality ran away on the attack and won the map 13-6, but even then ropz was the highest-rated player with a 1.66 while the rest of his team floundered.
Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and his men then went into their Mirage map pick, the same map they had just beaten FaZe 13-5 during the RMR, but after a 4-1 start they could not hold on.FaZe took over on the CT side with great performances from Helvijs “broky” Saukants and Håvard “rain” Nygaard, and could not be stopped after the half as they went on to tie the series up 13-8.
It all came down to Anubis, and it quickly became clear that FaZe were now in control of the series. They let through a map that Vitality struggled on, Anubis, and made it count.
Despite starting on the CT side, they went into the half with a four round lead and ropz once again shining the light to victory. Vitality were left in the dust and put together a three-round cosmetic comeback in the second half, but it was FaZe’s match to win, and so they did, 13-7, to qualify for the semis.
There are only four teams left now and the two semi-finals are set. MOUZ and Spirit will fight for a spot in the final on one side of the bracket while G2 and FaZe clash on the other side.
