The academy side have racked up their second CCT win after coming out on top in the last iteration of the online event.
Spirit Academy have emerged victorious in CCT Season 2 Europe Series 15, prevailing in the grand final over Danish side ECSTATIC to scoop up the event’s $22,000 grand prize.
For Spirit Academy, this placing marks their second-consecutive win in CCT events, having previously won out Series 14 over Vladyslav “bondik” Nechyporchuk’s FAVBET just over two months ago.
The young Russian side made their way to the playoffs of the online event after putting together a 3-1 record in the Swiss group stage, enduring a loss to DMS before moving on to the round-of-sixteen.
Once in the single-elimination bracket, Spirit Academy made quick work of their opposition, taking down Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný’s SINNERS, fellow academy squad Aurora Young Blud, and Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander’s ENCE with ease to lock in their place in the grand finals of the online event.
Spirit Academy squared off with ECSTATIC in the final, with the latter side having secured their place after notching wins in the playoffs over B8, Zero Tenacity, and 9INE. The series kicked off on the Danes’ pick of Nuke, where solid showings from Alimzhan “alkarenn” Bitimbai and Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin helped Spirit Academy to be the first to reach double-digit rounds.
ECSTATIC began to rebound on the defense thanks to the efforts of Anton “Anlelele” Huynh, but the Russian side eventually got the three rounds they needed to steal away their opponent’s pick 13-11.
Spirit Academy’s pick of Mirage was a far more one-sided affair, as all five of the academy squad’s players put in work to piece together a 9-3 half on the offense. A pistol win from ECSTATIC to start the second half briefly staved off the inevitable, but Spirit Academy soon finished off the map 13-6 to take the series 2-0.
