Another $10,000 has been awarded to the best Fantasy players across the Fall Season.
The end of the Perfect World Shanghai Major marked the end of Counter-Strike’s calendar in 2024, and the same goes for the HLTV Fall Fantasy Season, which ended after 21 games of play.
This time, the $5,000 grand prize, the lion’s share of which came courtesy of Chicken.GG, was taken home by arrow9, a 28-year-old student from Australia. “I was elated. I couldn’t believe it when I saw I won by one point. I felt like it was slipping away in the Major final when sh1ro was having a tough match, but it worked out in the end,” he said about his win.
“I always tried to get a top placement from the start and always tried to make the best team possible,” arrow9 said before admitting he started feeling the pressure near the end of the season. “I felt enormous pressure coming into the Major playoffs because playoff Fantasy games are super high risk.”
In the end, arrow9’s Major playoff team was enough to finish ahead of second-placed zico_fds by a single point, who admits that his season comes with a bitter-sweet feeling. “To be honest, I have mixed emotions,” he told HLTV.
“I finished in the top two and won a very nice prize, but I was also only one point behind 1st place. So it was frustrating, but I’m happy all the same. Congratulations to arrow9, he had a really cool break out towards the end of the season.”
Coming in as third was WiltChamberlain, a 29-year-old user from Finland. “Absolute joy. I didn’t really expect to get a top 3 finish after Vitality got eliminated in the first round,” he shared about his unexpected success.
“I had Spinx and apEX on my team. But still, my position went from 4th to 3rd because Spirit won. Shoutout to magixx and sh1ro!”
In true Finnish fashion, however, he said he didn’t feel the pressure of his counterparts and came into every game with a relaxed mindset. “I wasn’t really nervous, there was no pressure. I just picked and hoped.”
The regular season was once again supplemented by the $2,000 Celebrity League, where Vince “Vince” Hill ran out victorious with a four-point lead over NartOutHere.
“It feels great to be at the top, especially considering how many great minds of CS are competing against one another,” Vince said.
“It all quite literally came down to the Major grand final. I had a rough game fully backing Vitality with a ZywOo pick, but some results were more favorable. I knew because Nart went for karrigan, he would win if FaZe won, so it definitely added a lot more anxiety to that crazy comeback FaZe nearly pulled off on Dust2!”
Alex “hawka” Hawkins came in third to take home $300, while HLTV’s NER0 and Alex “Mauisnake” Ellenberg rounded out the top five.
