Across February and July, teams will be fighting for a chance to qualify for BLAST Open.
BLAST has revealed further information regarding BLAST Rising, the open portion of the BLAST circuit that will allow teams to go all the way from open qualifiers to BLAST Open.
The method for determining invites, the dates for the relevant qualifiers, and the exact format for BLAST Rising were all confirmed in a BLAST.tv news post.
Each region will feature their own BLAST Rising circuit, namely Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Each region’s Rising circuit will operate in the same manner, and will be played entirely online.
First there will be an open qualifier, from which four teams will qualify for the closed qualifier. There, the qualified teams will join 12 teams invited via the Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
The top four teams from the closed qualifier will head to BLAST Rising Finals, where they will join four teams invited via the VRS. The winner of the BLAST Rising Finals in each region will earn a spot at BLAST Open.
As for formats, the closed qualifiers will see the 16 teams in attendance split into four BO3 double-elimination groups. The winner of each group will progress to the Rising Finals. The BLAST Rising Finals will then be an eight-team, single-elimination BO3 bracket.
