HEROIC, MIBR secure victories as Elimination Stage round 1 ends

The first round of the Perfect World Shanghai Major Elimination Stage came to an end with HEROIC and MIBR picking up victories in the final pair of matches.

After the upset-filled beginning, where G2 and Spirit were sent to the 0-1 pool after respective losses to The MongolZ and FURIA, the rest of the round played out according to expectations.

MOUZ made light work of paiN in a 13-6 victory on Nuke, while FaZe scraped past Wildcard thanks to a masterful performance by Håvard “⁠rain⁠” Nygaard, who put up 25 kills, 125 ADR, and a 1.98 rating.

In the final pair of matches, MIBR took down 3DMAX in what was the most even match according to the pre-tournament seeding, while HEROIC took down BIG on the A stream after a dominant T-side performance.

The results mean we are set for some high-octane matches in round two. FaZe vs. HEROIC and MOUZ vs. The MongolZ are the two headline matches in the 1-0 pool, while G2 and Spirit will look to change the course of their Major campaigns in their respective matches against BIG and Wildcard.
