The tournament organizer was set to return to the Polish city after 10 years, but the venue cancelled their booking.
Counter-Strike was due to come back to the TAURON Arena
Update 00:45 : PGL has revealed that their booking for the TAURON Arena has been cancelled by the venue, as Krakow has been confirmed as the host city and co-organizer of an event due to take place at the same time as PGL Krakow 2027.
The tournament organizer states they remain committed to hosting an event from January 13-25 in 2027, and is on the hunt for a new venue.
“This abrupt decision disappoints PGL and the Counter-Strike community,” state PGL. “Despite this setback, our commitment remains, and a PGL CS2 Event will still take place from January 13 to 25, 2027. We are actively seeking a new venue that recognizes the significance of esports and embraces its global audience.”
PGL has announced Krakow, Poland, as the location for their first event of 2027, set to be played from January 13-25.
The tournament organizer organized an event in the city back in 2017, namely the PGL Major Krakow, where Gambit lifted the trophy after getting the better of Immortals in the final.
PGL’s 2027 event will once again be hosted in the TAURON Arena, which has a seating capacity of 15,030 for sporting events.
“PGL Major Kraków 2017 was a landmark moment for us and the esports community,” Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL, said in a press release.
“The passion of the fans and the thrilling competition created unforgettable memories. We are excited to return to Krakow and build upon this legacy.”
Rather than conflicting with ESL’s event like in 2025 and 2026, PGL’s first 2027 event of the year will coincide with the partially-online BLAST Bounty Season 1, as organizers continue to vie for room in the open circuit.
