Rare Atom have been eliminated from the Perfect World Shanghai Major after a 1-2 loss to MIBR, who moved on to the round five deciders, played on Tuesday.

The squad around YuLun “Summer” Cai leaves the tournament as the only home team to qualify for the Major. Following their loss to the Brazilian side, they were sent off by a cheering, packed-out crowd in the Expo Centre stage.

Rare Atom had their backs against the wall from the first day of the Major’s Opening stage, when they suffered one-sided losses to The MongolZ and Virtus.pro. On day two they took fnatic by surprise, but faltered to MIBR in their second elimination match.

The Brazilians survived the chaotic affair against a Rare Atom team occasionally catching them off-guard with their signature chaotic playstyle.

Multiple clutches from Andrew “kaze” Khong in the first half of Inferno and a crucial round loss to time didn’t end up costing MIBR, who went on a 8-2 run on the T side to pick up a series lead.

Anubis looked in the Brazilians’ control, but even eight rounds on the CT side wasn’t enough. Rare Atom won the economic back-and-forth early in the second half and ran down their opponents in dominant fashion to force a decider.

MIBR dominated Ancient from start to finish, an eight-round streak on the CT side complemented by a quick second pistol round win and conversion seeing them through without much drama.
